RC V-22 Osprey

The rc V-22 Osprey by Rotormast, Carrollton, Tx. has wingspan of 35 in. In a video on the site it is shown flying just like the actual aircraft.

We have seen some other rc V-22 Osprey projects posted in RC Groups and also on a site called RC VTOL'S. We don't have many details of these, but none appear capable of performing all the maneuvers of the actual aircraft.

RC V-22 Osprey

Design of a rc V-22 Osprey was undertaken by the Mechanical Engineering Dept. of the University of Adelaide. Construction was primarily from aluminum. Lithium batteries were used to power the electric motors. A miniDragon micro controller was used to provide control of flight functions. Although their rc v-22 Osprey never achieved stable hover, it did provide a foundation to enable further research.

We received the following email including the picture above from Willy Tuthill: "You should include the Banana Hobby rc V-22 Osprey with the other Osprey models. While it can not transition from hover to horizontal flight like the real V-22, it does maneuver much like a helicopter. It comes ready to fly with 14 in. rotors and 180 type motors."

Thank you for telling us about the Banana Hobby rc V-22 Osprey, Willy.

We received the following email from Rudolf Voegel(Rudolf.Voegele@ bystronic-glass.com): "I am Rudi a German engineer and I planning to built up in the near future a scale model of the rc V-22 Osprey. I am looking around the internet and especially at eBay to find a 3D drawing about this model but without any success. Can you provide one or do you know a supplier in USA for a plastic kit in scale 1:48. Thanks for support. Soon I will open at my homepage a new project rc V-22 Osprey. Thanks in advance - Rudi"

If anyone out there can help Rudi with his rc V-22 Osprey, please answer him directly.
